Amazing Home Birth

This isn't my Birth Story, but rather a birth I attended as a Doula/Labor Assistant. At the time of the birth, I was working in the capacity of a Labor Assitant for a Midwife who specialized in home births. We were attending another home birth, when we were contacted that another client was experiencing labor pains. We couldn't get a good feel for how far along the labor had progressed, and we still had at least an hour and one half left at the current birth, plus about a 40 minute drive to the second house. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, we arrived at the second laboring mothers house. It was a spectacular house, located on a lake, and the family was as nice and accomodating as could be. My midwife and I hurried along to get set up, expecting things would be moving along. That was not to be the case. Labor trickled on into the night, and well into the next day. It would seem that baby was finally ready to make her presence at 4:32 in the afternoon, after 28 hours of labor! When she emerged, the cord was wrapped around her neck, twice around her body, and once around her arm. It must have been the longest cord that ever existed, but she was fine, breathing well, and beautiful. This is one of the best birth experiences that I always carry with me in memory and heart. Although it was tough, long and tiring, it was absolutely beautiful and natural.
