When my son (now 2.5 yrs old) was born, I had quite the audience! My husband, my mom, my sister, his mom, his sister, and a close friend of my mom's (who had also become like family). The birth was fairly easy and the epideral had kicked in quite nicely. However about 1/2 way through pushing my mother who had volunteered and was holding one of my legs, turned white as a ghost. Meanwhile my husband who was up by my head and noticed her swaying, all of a sudden he's got my leg...and is holding my seizing mother in his other arm. She passed out and the doctor told my husband, let go of her...which of course he did not want to do because she'd have hit the ground. So he eased her back onto my sister who was sitting "couch". My mom was convulsing and her eyes were rolling back into her head. That freaked my sister out and by that time all sorts of doctors and nurses come running in at me...then my doc said...the "mom"...no not the one giving birth...HER mom!!" She ended up being fine within just a few minutes and once she got some apple juice down. She had never done that before in her life, it was a combination of nerves, excitement, too much coffee and little food. I am pregnant currently and we have been picking on her saying she is not allowed to be in the birthing room this time. Although she swears she woul be fine. That is definitely a memorable birthing story for me!!
