Early in the morning of January 21, 2008 I woke up needing to use the bathroom for the umteenth time since going to bed five hours earlier. I was very pregnant with my 5th child and was debating whether I should get up again, or try and hold it for another 20 minutes of sleep. I wasn't able to think for long. My water broke a few moments later at 3:30 am. My husband jumped out of bed, called the midwife, and then began gathering things we would need. I laid on my side and breathed through a couple of contractions. The third one was different as I felt the baby crowning. I told my husband to "come catch this baby." He quickly rushed to the bed just in time for our little boy to be born into his hands at 3:42 am. Total time of labor...12 minutes.
