My wife was in our kitchen one day, when all of a sudden water came shooting out of the light socket. My wife was very surprised and my 5 year son was there and thought it was fun. After some confusion, water was traced to upstairs bathroom. My wife discovered the sink blocked with a face towel, and the hot water running. What we soon discovered was that my son was trying an experiment (his word) to create a steam room! He had recently learned about steam and evaporation, and he truly thought all the hot water would turn to steam.

We did not get angry at him, as he meant no harm, but he realized that before he tried any more experiments, he should check with mom and dad first. So now we support "experimentation" with liquids and other items in the kitchen, but all under our supervision.
