Ode to Military Moms on Tenth Anniversary of 9/11
Don't let anybody fool you; being a mother is one of the toughest (but most rewarding) jobs that anyone could have. But what about when your life is made doubly tough because your spouse has an equally tough job, one of the toughest that America has to offer? That's right, folks--we're talking about those who serve in the United States military, and those mothers who pull double duty keeping their family together while there husbands serve overseas.
With the tenth anniversary of the terror attacks that took place on September 11, 2001 right around the corner, we could not think of a better time where we would pay homage to those mothers who serve as the glue of the family while there husbands serve in the military.
Being a military mother is especially tough. Aside from the months of absence and the sheer fact that they are putting their lives at risk on a daily basis for the sake of fighting terror, many mothers often have to struggle with constant moving as their husbands careers are in a constant state of flux.
If you are not a military mom, take the time to appreciate the little extra that they do and their domestic contribution to America's War on Terror. And if you are a military mom, know that we understand what can sometimes be construed as a constant struggle!
In either case, our friends over at iVillage (in conjunction with the tenth anniversary of 9/11) put together a neat slideshow showcasing some unique stories from military moms we thought you might enjoy. Be sure to check it out!
